Prepare for your first mission with the essentials of piloting, ground combat and exploration. Follow a practical starting route before investing in more advanced equipment.
- 1
Complete the Prologue to learn basic movement and ship interactions.
- 2
Explore mission areas on foot and in zero gravity, collecting equipment and ship components.
- 3
Use scavenged parts to improve your ship, balancing mobility, protection and firepower.
- 4
Share piloting, engineering and exploration duties with your crew; characters are not locked into fixed classes.
Jump Space Ship Builds
Compare ship weapons and modules before committing to a build. Check level scaling and balance changes instead of relying on outdated loadout recommendations.
- Railgun
Damage scales with weapon level, while its extra-shot module adds shots before recharge.
- Chain Module
The Anniversary Update increased damage fall-off between bounces, weakening older Chain-focused setups.
- EMP Shield Restore
The September 17, 2026 patch added a trigger cooldown and reduced the module's activation chance.
Jump Space Weapons and Loadouts
Plan an on-foot loadout around your preferred combat style. Understand equipment slots and test your weapons before heading into a mission.
- Equipment Slots
Your equipped loadout has two primary-weapon slots and two utility slots.
- Materia Gun
The former Multi-Tool is now optional loot with randomized modules and infinite ammunition.
- Firing Range
Find the hangar firing range behind Bozze to test weapons.
Jump Space Solo and Co-op
Set up a solo run, a two-player crew or a full group of four. Learn how Buddy assistance, public lobbies and private invitations fit different ways to play.
- 1–4 Players
Play solo or with up to three friends; the standard game supports a maximum of four players.
- Buddy Assistance
The helper bot assists both solo players and two-player crews.
- Public Lobbies
Find other players through the Server Browser rather than automatic matchmaking.
- Private Invitations
Protect a lobby with a password and share an invitation link without first adding everyone as Steam friends.
Jump Space Missions and Difficulty
Choose missions that match your equipment and crew. Understand Threat Levels and mission recovery before committing to a long run.
- Threat Levels 1–3
Lower Threat Levels offer a gentler starting point for learning missions.
- Threat Levels 6–8
The Anniversary Update added these difficulties, with levels 7–8 aimed at endgame gear and coordinated crews.
- Mission Checkpoints
Host and solo runs autosave at sector jumps; Continue restores interrupted missions, not voluntarily abandoned runs.
Jump Space Loot and Progression
Understand what you can carry, how to bring loot aboard and which rewards survive a disconnect. Separate temporary run inventory from rewards used for longer-term progression.
- Backpack Capacity
Store up to 10 items; carrying many bulky items can slow movement.
- Ship Salvage
Destroyed ships drop a single loot crate that the pilot can teleport aboard.
- Ingot Recovery
Mission recovery awards all ingot types and preserves accumulated rewards when reconnecting to the same session.
- Inventory Persistence
Hangar backpack contents carry into a mission, but backpack items do not automatically persist between separate runs.
Jump Space Ship Power and Repairs
Keep your ship operational while the crew handles combat and exploration. Learn how power management, repair tools and Buddy support address different onboard problems.
- Power Grid
Adjust the ship's power distribution to support speed, defense or attack capability.
- Emergency Tools
Use the Hull Repair Tool for ship damage and the fire extinguisher for onboard fires.
- Buddy Repairs
Buddy can perform repairs and other tasks while occupying a combat station.
Jump Space Settings and Performance
Check PC requirements and troubleshoot stuttering or connection problems. Start with developer-published workarounds rather than assuming one settings preset works for every machine.
- Memory and Storage
Steam lists 16 GB RAM and 30 GB of available storage, with an SSD required.
- Frame Pacing
For persistent stutter, try disabling VSync and enabling the in-game frame limiter; check driver-level VSync overrides too.
- DirectX 11
Test DirectX 11 by adding -force-d3d11 in Steam Library > Properties > Launch Options.
- Connection Errors
The developer recommends synchronizing the Windows system clock and enabling Set time automatically when connections fail.
